Therapy
Angiology relies on various therapeutic procedures to ensure vascular health. At MediS, we focus primarily on counselling and drug therapy. Other therapeutic procedures are based on minimally invasive interventions or operations that are carried out externally. In this respect, we work together with renowned specialists and clinics and endeavour to find an optimal solution together with you.
Drug therapy
Medication plays an important role in the treatment and prevention of vascular diseases. Various drugs are used to improve blood flow, lower blood pressure and keep cholesterol (blood fat) within the normal range. The aim is to alleviate symptoms, slow down the progression of the disease and reduce the risk of complications.
Lifestyle changes
A healthy lifestyle is essential for general physical health. Any dietary changes, regular physical activity, quitting smoking and a healthy body weight help to prevent vascular diseases and can also have a positive influence on vascular activity in the case of existing diseases.
Interventional procedures
One of the most frequently used interventional procedures is the catheter-based procedure. A catheter is inserted through the skin into the vessel and guided to the affected section. Here, the constricted blood vessels can be opened using various techniques (balloon, stents).
Surgical interventions
In severe cases of vascular disease, surgical interventions may be required to repair or replace narrowed or blocked vessels, such as bypass surgery or the removal of arterial occlusions.
